God And Common People

Except you read the bible you would think that the great men mention in the bible were born that way. But in reality every person in the bible that became great, or did great things for God were just common people. Moses was a great man of God. The bible says , “ And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, none equal to him in all the signs and wonders which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt.” That was Moses after God put His hands on him. But when God first called Moses he was shocked that God would choose him for he knew that he was inadequate for the job in and of himself. Moses begged God not to send him because of his inability to speak well. If you would read the entire bible you would see that God uses common, or ordinary people and uses them to do extraordinary things. When you see a picture of Moses holding up a stick and the Sea opens up, that’s God, not Moses. If you want to see Moses you would ha ve to go back to the burning bush were he was trembling and trying to convince God not to send him, that’s Moses.

The Apostle Paul gives us some vital information about God, he said; “ God has chosen the foolish things of the world{ we would call it foolish to call a man who cannot talk well to go speak to a king} to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty. And base, or common { people not born of Noble blood} things of the world, and things which are despised { people who are rejected by other people} has God chosen.” God always takes nothing and produces something, this reveals Him as God. This is His personality, His signature. Paul the great Apostle learned the art of being himself. He said, “ When I came to you, brethren, I came not with excellence of speech or of wisdom {mans wisdom} ,declaring to you the testimony of God, for I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. Just be yourself and God will find you and use you to show Himself mighty.

There was a time when God needed a Judge to Judge Israel and He looked and looked until he found a man that was from a poor family and he was least in that family. His name was Gideon. God took this man and saved a Nation. This does not mean that God cannot use people who are of Royal blood, for He used Daniel greatly. Common people are most likely not to get in God’s way, but will allow him to get the glory for they know for sure that they are not capable in and of themselves to accomplish extraordinary things for our great and mighty God. All twelve of Jesus’ disciples were common people.

I hear a lot of people put down David for his act of murder and adultery. These things are clearly wrong and God punished David for this sin. But the fact is God knew that David was a murderer and an adulterer when He called him to be king. David did not know it for circumstances had not presented themselves. But God knew it, for He knows all things. Yet God call him to be king despite his humanity. If God uses anyone from the tribe of Adam they are going to have some faults, some more than others. It seems to me like with God the more messed up a person is, that’s who He is looking for. How messed up are you? Look out, you may be called to do extraordinary things for God.

FRESH FROM HIS PRESENCE

Fresh From His Presence

God’s presence is most precious to me. There are not many things in life that is as precious to me as His presence. As I look into the word of God I can see that when anyone came fresh from God’s presence they did awesome things for the Lord. I believe that we should attempt nothing for God except we are fresh from His presence. If we would look into scriptures we can see that God sometimes uses patterns. I mean, He does some things the same way. For example; In the book of Hebrews we are told how God told Moses to build the earthly tabernacle after the pattern of the heavenly tabernacle. Let’s look at this at another angle. In the Gospel of Luke we read of the Angel Gabriel. He told Zechariah; “ I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and an sent to speak to you, and to show you these glad tidings.”

Gabriel was Fresh From God’s Presence. Whenever I speak for God I should come fresh from His presence. Jesus speaking in the gospel of John said; “ For I have given them the words that You gave Me, and they have received them, and have known surly that I came out from You, and that You did send Me”. When Jesus came to earth to minister to humanity He came Fresh From God’s Presence. Do you see the pattern? Look at this. And it came to pass in those days that Jesus went into a mountain to pray, and He continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He chose His disciples. Jesus comes fresh from God’s presence and chooses His disciples. I know that you have read about the calling of Jeremiah, how God told him; “ Say not, I am a child; for you shall go to all that I send you, and whatsoever I command you you shall speak; For I am with you to deliver you. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth and said, I have put My words in your mouth”.

O the miracles that could take place if we would only wait for God’s presence. Jeremiah left fresh from God’s presence with the word of God as fire shut up in his bones. It could happen to you. Did you go to work this morning fresh from God’s presence? Listen! God said to Ezekiel;” son of man, stand upon your feet and I will speak to you”. And the Spirit entered into Ezekiel when He spoke to him, and set him upon his feet, that he heard Him that did speak. When God send anyone to speak in His name He sends them fresh from His presence. If you are not fresh from God’s presence then you are disqualified from speaking on His behalf.

The Apostle Paul testifying said; “ When I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; and saw Him saying to me, make haste, and get out quickly of Jerusalem; for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me. And I said, Lord, they know that imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believe on You. And He said to me, depart for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles”. Have you ever wondered what qualified Paul to speak to the Gentiles? He was fresh from God’s presence. We are told in the book of Exodus that the Glory of God, the Presence of God followed the children of Israel throughout all their journeys. Seeing that God is a God of patterns; should I , a child of God, expect the Glory of God, the presence of God to follow me throughout all my journeys?

It is not about you………

Can you think of a time when you were going through? You are feeling like you don’t have strength to move forward? Would rather go somewhere in a corner and just curl up with your hurt and wounds? Okay, it is you that I am talking to today. I have felt the same way at times. I want you to know that people need, what is inside of you. They need you now, not later- when everything is going fine.I know you need encouraging yourself, you need a husband now, you need money to pay bills, you need a wife! Well you pray for someone else and watch what happens to your life. I know, I know , you can’t muster up a prayer for someone else. In that case, break out the worship music. You have to take your focus off of your situation and your situation will change. The word says : If thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and they darkness be as the noon day: And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (Isaiah 58:10-11) It is not about you, it is about others. The work of the Lord can’t be done when you are focusing on you and your situation. Know that you are here for a purpose. You are not here by accident, everyone has a specific reason for being here on earth. Find your purpose and your position in the kingdom. Sandra James Be Empowered

Dear Jewel

There is a jewel in all of us. Sometimes we are so rough around the edges that the jewel cannot be seen. Over a period of time even the tip of the jewel is covered with dirt and mud because of life and the cards that were given to us. What happens when we worship and constantly stay before God, that jewel starts to appear again. The light begins to shine again, we feel like there is some hope left. The dirt is removed from the cracks and crevices of our nature. We begin to glow because of the glory. We will literally be transformed before peoples eyes. You will even start to wonder, is this real? I am not the same person I used to be! If god can change me, he can change anyone!

Infested Fruit

When we are uprooted it is very painful. Its like a tree that has been pulled from the ground to be moved to another area of the yard. When you think about humans, when we are uprooted, we are more prone to infection and dehydration -if left out of the ground too long, (fighting the process). Once we are moved in position and planted, we tend to adapt to our surroundings and begin to grow better in the new soil. We start to produce fruit and our leaves are lush. We can now be shade for someone else. Now someone can eat from us, without getting sick from what was once infested fruit!

I was thinking this week of all the spiritual warfare that I have experienced within the last 3 weeks. I mean ridiculous warfare, you know the kind that seems almost comical? Well that is what the enemy has tried to hand me, saying “this is the start of how your year will end”. I said, “No I rebuke you, this is your plight not mine. The same hole you are digging for me, is where you will end up”!

I thought about how important it is to encourage others, during your times of war. I am depending on the overflow that is within me to encourage you today.December 31, 2007 - Someone drained my bank account and left it overdrawn $330.00. As I thought about the situation today, the Lord revealed something . Our spirits are similar to accounts. They get drained because we are not reading,praying and fasting. We are not getting the proper nutrition. There is no moving water (spirit), which brings us to a stagnant state.So when a storm or firery trial comes it overdraws the account leaving us without FAITH. When there is no FAITH, there is no HOPE. When there is no HOPE, there is no PEACE, when there is no PEACE, there is no JOY. When there is no JOY, there is no LAUGHTER. When there is no LAUGHTER we dry up and die spiritually.

Remember: What you go through is not for you, it is to help someone else go through a little easier!
